TurboTools Overview
TurboTools is a software program for Windows and Macintosh, designed by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz, to help students become more productive and successful using the Big6 information problem-solving process. TurboTools is the foundation of a Big6 information literacy program for your school and provides an effective way to implement and teach information and technology literacy.

TurboTools guides students--from start to finish--through the Big6 process to create projects and complete assignments of all types, including research papers and book reports. Some of the exciting tools integrated into Big6 TurboTools are: electronic resources for teachers, parents, and students, a powerful new tool for generating custom tests and evaluations, a student project manager, a built-in word processor, a citation/notes generator, an electronic dictionary, and a customizable report organizer and generator that is great for producing book reports, science projects, and numerous other structured documents.
Big6 TurboTools is set up so that all users may login with his or her own user name and password. All work for each user account is kept safe and confidential. The Big6 information problem solving process is for students of all ages. Information literacy promotes achievement and success.
Personal - A single stand alone application that will only be used by one individual in a private setting. There is no login and no user management. Data is stored on this machine and there is no automatic removal. This license requires no server or network. (Uses the TurboTools PE application.)
Teacher - Allows the Personal License listed above to create and modify Report Templates and Evaluations & Tests. Teachers and administrators with this license can create their own Report Templates and Tests at home, export them and then later import them into an Enterprise edition or other Personal application. (Uses the TurboTools PE application.)
Family - Allows multiple users and logins on the same machine. Since this license stores the data on the same machine, no server or network are required. User management and other administration tools are available (such as creating new tests and evaluations or new report templates. Perfect for home schools and for parents who want to help their children. (Uses the TurboTools PE application.)
School - This license is for installation in a lab, library, or classroom situation where multiple users will use the program but the users who utilize it are never constant. There is no login and no user management available. There is also no data storage; all data is removed between launchings. Due to the fact that no data is stored, the import, export, export all, and clear options are very prominent to make it obvious that the user must export prior to leaving the program. This license requires no server or network, but users must have some method of storing and transporting their files (disk, flash drive, or network drive are all acceptable). (Uses the TurboTools PE application.)
Enterprise - This license is for use on a network and utilizes a server. Users login and create and save their TurboTools documents and planners. This is the most fully featured application available with optional tools such as the bulletin board for school announcements and TurboChat for collaborative assignments and instant messaging communication between teachers and students. Students will be less likely to "lose" their work since it is stored on the TurboTools server. (Uses the TurboTools Server and TurboTools applications.)
